Smart Gilas Defeated UAE in the FIBA Asia 2011

Philippine team Smart Gilas Dominated their firts game at the Fiba Asia Championship as they defeated United Arab Emirates with a score of 92-52.

During the first quarter of the game, Smart Gilas was struggling on their offense and Marcus Douthit was called for an unsportsmanlike foul for pushing a player from UAE but before the 2nd quarter ends the defense of Smart Gilas has been good until the rest of the game.

Mac Baracael lead the national team with 15 points, while Asi Taulava and Marcus Douthit has 13 points each and JV Casio with 11 points. 1 hour before the game Chris Lutz and Marcio Lassiter were ineligible to play for Smart Gilas, They need to submit documents that they are really filipino citizens before they turned 16 years old.

Everybody is hoping that they could play for tonight's game against China, because they will be a plus factor for the wing players. but Coach Toroman got reinforcements from the PBA to beef up the national squad, Jimmy Alapag, Kelly Williams and Ranidel Ocampo. The Philippine team is in group D together with China, Bahrain, and UAE.
